Biosketch
Dr. Fox joined the APL-UW professional staff as an Electrical Engineer in 1988, and received an APL-UW Fellowship to complete his graduate studies. He was on leave of absence from UW during 1996–1998, working at NATO's SACLANT Undersea Research Centre in La Spezia, Italy as a research scientist. He returned to APL-UW in 1999, working as a research engineer and project manager.
From 2008 to 2009 he was the Director of Research and Development at BlueView Technologies, a spin-off company based on imaging sonar technology developed at APL-UW. He returned to NATO employment in La Spezia from 2010 to 2015, at the renamed NATO Undersea Research Centre, then NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation, where he was a Principal Scientist and Program Manager.
He returned to APL-UW in 2015, and was subsequently detailed to the Office of Naval Research as a Program Officer until 2018. Upon full-time return to APL-UW, he contributed technically and programmatically to various projects, was head of the Environmental and Information Systems Department, then served as Deputy Executive Director of the Laboratory. Dr. Fox accepted the position of Executive Director in 2024.
